Can I use my own computer as a host? I am trying to get my computer to run as one since I have an extra hard drive which holds around 80 gigabytes of space.
U can but that usually never works properly. You’ll probably have low uptime and slow loading sites.
I do not think so that it is a good idea to use your Pc as host because there are going to be lot of technical problems arise at that time.I think its better to use other reliable webhosting server.
Running commercial websites from you home PC is really not a good move.
first off your PC has no redundancy as compared to dedicated server hardware, RAID, Spare power supplies, UPS etc. Secondly you have no saervice level agreement with you home provider and a 95% uptime for example is no good for a commerical site.
It is very possible to do this, however unless you are running a T-1 line at your house.
It will be the good idea,If you are thinking of running a personal website.
Hard disk is not the only thing you have to consider – memory, processor speed, and security are all important. Plus, your computer needs to be powered on all the time.
I would probably not recommend it. As you will have slow access and also the redundancy issues involved. If you are planning on spending the money and have a good service already you might be able to pull it off.
you CANNOT use residential internet for commercial purposes.
